Speaker Bio:
Sister Kathy Adams was born in the South and educated around the world as an Army “brat”.  She grew up during the Black Power and Civil Rights movements and graduated from The State University of New York at Stony Brook as a Psychology major.  In the mid-70s Kathy moved to New Jersey for work and was employed in Administrative Support roles for over 35 years in both the private sector and corporate America.  Kathy was, as we say, “brought up in church” having been a member of... Southern Baptist, regular Baptist, Army base church, Methodist, AME Zion... then quit and went to college. While in college she encountered religions of other sorts. God moved in her life when a few years later a college friend reached out to her to share that she had found The Church and that Kathy could find one just like it nearby.  In March 1977 Kathy was baptized into Christ at the Collingswood church of Christ. She began participating in and speaking at women’s events taking place within the church community. In the early ‘80s, the first Sunday worship service for the Camden Church of Christ was celebrated in Kathy and her husband's home in Camden.  Kathy refers to herself and her husband as “just folks” and says he has a gift of memory and teaching the Bible... just the Bible. And while he taught Sunday School and Wednesday night class for years under Jacob Akpan and Dr. Claudius Davis, she was a Sunday School teacher and church secretary. Just folks. Kathy says, “I am not your Mother’s church lady and I will always endeavor to lift up Christ as the Savior of our souls, the redeemer of our lives, and the lover of our hearts.” Since the Camden church building suffered a fatal fire in 2019, we have been blessed to share the building with the Collingswood church family while plans to rebuild are in the works. Kathy resides in Camden with her husband. They are blessed with one son and daughter-in-law and 4 grandchildren.
